Zakat Delivered Locally in Aberdeen

AMIC has partnered with the National Zakat Foundation to ensure that zakat raised within our community supports people locally. Through this partnership, AMIC will raise zakat funds, while NZF will carry out eligibility assessments and distribute funds directly to approved recipients in Aberdeen. This combines local fundraising with a trusted, established assessment and distribution process, helping ensure zakat reaches those who are entitled to it.

Supporting Muslims Facing Financial Hardship

Through this partnership, we aim to support Muslim adults in Aberdeen who are experiencing immediate financial hardship. The project aims to:

● Provide relief from urgent financial difficulty.

● Promote a sense of closeness to the Muslim community and an increase in faith.

● Offer an additional means of supporting people in need, alongside existing support services.

What Support Is Available?

Eligible applicants may receive zakat support for essential living and housing-related costs.

This can include:

● Basic living expenses such as food and clothing.

● Furniture and essential household items.

● Housing-related costs, including rent arrears or council tax debts.

Due to high demand and to ensure fairness, only one successful application per person can be supported per year.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, applicants must be:

● Muslim

● Resident in Aberdeen

● Eligible to receive zakat (i.e. below the nisab threshold)
