Mufti (Qari) Nabiil Atchia
Mufti (Qari) Nabiil Atchia serves as the Head Imam and Khateeb at AMIC Central Mosque, having joined in July 2024. Fluent in five languages, including Arabic and French, he memorised the Qur'an at the tender age of 11. At just 9 years old, he participated in the prestigious international King Abdul Aziz Qur'an competition and was honored with the rare opportunity to pray inside the Kaaba.
He pursued a rigorous seven-year Bachelor’s program in Arabic and Islamic sciences at Darul Uloom Zakariya in South Africa and Jamiatul Ilm Wal Huda in England, graduating with distinction. Mufti Nabiil has completed the Ifta course and holds Ijaazah in the six major books of Hadith (Sihah Sitta).
He specialises in the Qur'an with Imam Hafs (RAH), all Qira’ah SAB’AH (7 variants) and Qira’ah Asharah (10 variants)
With over 15 years of experience as an Imam and educator in Scotland, Mufti Nabiil has made a profound impact on the communities he has led. He is passionate about mentoring youth, developing future generations of Hafidh, and expanding mosque programs to meet the spiritual and educational needs of the community. He looks forward to empowering the next generation.

Sheikh Muhammad Ibn Aftab
Sheikh Muhammad Ibn Aftab has been leading the congregation at AMIC’s Spital Mosque site since August 2024, quickly becoming a pillar of spiritual guidance and education. His journey in Islamic scholarship began at a young age under the tutelage of his mother, memorising the Qur'an by the age of 11. By 13, his thirst for deeper understanding led him to pursue Arabic studies, followed by advanced studies in Qiraa'ah, Islamic jurisprudence, Tafseer, and Hadith.
With several years of experience teaching Qur'an and Islamic Studies, Sheikh Muhammad brings a wealth of educational expertise to his role. As the headteacher of AMIC Madrasah, he oversees the holistic education of the next generation. Since his arrival, the madrasah has been flourishing, with increasing numbers of students and a growing reputation.
In addition to his religious expertise, Sheikh Muhammad is a skilled martial artist, holding black belts in Karate and Taekwondo, and is also trained in acupuncture. His unique combination of spiritual wisdom, physical discipline, and alternative healing methods has made him a beloved figure among youth and elders alike. Known for his approachable personality and calm demeanor, Sheikh Muhammad encourages young people to engage in both spiritual and physical development.
Although he has just begun his journey at AMIC, his dynamic approach and passion for the deen to guide and uplift those around him is expected to make a lasting impact on the community.
